Mostly portraits, landscapes, and the in-between — old motels, downtown storefronts, musicians, mountains in fog. I keep coming back to the places and people I actually know. The photographs that work are usually the ones I made when I wasn't trying too hard to make a photograph.

Photography is one way of paying attention. Journaling is another, and so is running a used bookshop, and so is karate. It's all the same thing in different mediums — slowing down enough to notice ordinary life, then trying to make something out of it. I write and make videos about that side of it too.
